ExpertiseMystery Guest

What happens when nobody knows we're watching.

Announced visits measure the operation on its best behaviour. Mystery visits measure the truth. EXCEED's mystery guest work is carried out by senior hospitality inspectors — people who have run the operations they assess — staying, dining and observing anonymously, exactly as your guests do.

The anonymous hotel stay

A mystery hotel inspection covers the journey no announced audit can: the booking call answered on the ninth ring, the arrival with luggage and no reservation printout, the room at 11pm, the 6am alarm call, the breakfast queue, the checkout query. Every interaction is timed, documented and evidenced discreetly, then scored against the relevant sections of our 775-point framework.

Mystery dining and bar visits

Our mystery diner visits assess restaurants and bars from the guest's chair: welcome and seating, menu knowledge, timing between courses, upselling done gracefully or not at all, accuracy of the bill, warmth of the goodbye. Quick service operations are assessed at the pace they actually trade.

A programme, not a one-off

One visit is a snapshot; a programme is a standard. A structured mystery guest programme repeats visits across sites, shifts and seasons, tracks scores over time, names what has improved and what has slipped, and gives leadership a truthful measure of consistency — the quality guests reward above all others.

Honest, fair, useful

Mystery findings are handled with care: evidence first, individuals treated fairly, and results delivered as coaching material as much as scorecard. Where staff excel, the report says so by name — praise, we find, travels even faster than correction.
